Within 48 hours, you’ll receive an email confirming your place in the mission and giving you access to the platform.
Complete your teacher profile with your contact details.
Enter the class groups you want to participate with. A team and a mission will automatically be created for each of them. Remember, each class will participate as one single team. Each team participates in one challenge only.
In the Teaching Guides section of this website, you can download the teaching guide for each of the challenges adapted to your region’s educational curriculum. Each guide features a calendar, methodological guidelines, complementary theory, and information on curricular correlation. You can access the materials from the platform. The two challenges are divided into four stages. For each stage, you’ll find an explanatory video and a downloadable PDF work plan with instructions on how to carry out an experiment that will help your students answer certain questions and pass that stage. You’ll also find a sample team, called DEMO, so you can see how the mission works before starting with your own teams..
We’ll send the school a welcome pack for each of its participating class groups. The package contains some of the materials necessary to carry out the mission and a few surprises that we can’t reveal right now. The remaining materials specified in the work plans are everyday or common objects found in schools.
In the first lesson, the group familiarises itself with the mission, the platform, and the contents of the welcome pack.
During each stage, you’ll be guided by two members of the ALBA Synchrotron team. The two guides will reveal the scientific challenge or enigma you need to resolve. To decipher it, you’ll need to download the PDF work plan and carry out an experiment in the classroom. At the end of the experiment, you’ll have to fill out the lab report to prove you’ve completed the challenge successfully.
When you’ve completed all four stages, you’ve reached your goal. You’ll be able to download a Final Mission Report and Diploma for each student to help them remember the experience.
At the end of each stage, all the teams to have successfully completed that stage’s challenge within the suggested time frame will be entered into a draw to win the prizes listed on the home page of this website.
